26/01: If I dig a very deep hole...
This site uses Google Maps to show where you would end up if you dig a whole from where you are to the other side of the globe. Seems that I will be ending up swimming a long distance for New Zealand.

26/01: Stick remover
Nice little game where you have to remove sticks as much as possible without the structure collapsing.

The first chapter of Fledgling, the new Liaden Universe novel that is going to be serialized online, has been published, both as readable text as podcast.

22/01: Get a First Life
This is what can happen if you have a fully automated cake printer without any human checking the result before sending the cake out.

18/01: LibraryThing
What is Last.fm for music is LibraryThing for books: a site that catalogues your book collection adds book suggestions and a social network to this catalogue. See the example below to see some excerpts from my book collection.
It is also very easy to import from cataloguing software, like I did with an export file with just the ISBN numbers from Book Collector from Collectorz.com.
One of my favourite SF&Fantasy series are the Liaden Universe novels by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller.
Now a new addition in this series is announced that will be publicised in a novel way: online serialization, a new chapter will be placed online as long as US$ 300,- in donations are received per chapter.
As a fan of the series I can certainly recommend a donation!

30/11: Flickr time
Another web application with a very nice Flickr implementation: Flickr Time. You do need a high bandwith internet connection to use this though.

27/11: Give Us Back New York
Funny website trying to reinstate New York as a Dutch colony. They even made a trailer of what this would look like.

Cool idea: combine a photo community with a print magazine and you get a photo magazine where the community is editor.
I like the idea and have submitted a photo myself, of course a vote would be appreciated ;-)

All applications you will probably ever need to go on an USB stick... that is PortableApps.
Today I have successfully migrated the gallery script of my photo pages from version 1.5RC4 to 2.01 of Exhibition Engine (EE). See more on the EE forums for information on this magnificent gallery script.
Please give me a mail if you encounter migration errors.
With these nifty sites, Spell with Flickr and geoGreeting, you can spell with Flickr and Google Maps!
geoGreeting makes even a nice animation out of it.
