05/10: iPod death clock
Good to know my iPod still has some 460 days or so left, but shocking my iPod battery only has 47% capacity left.
Want to check your own iPod? You can do that here.

08/11: PlugKing
Why didn't somebody think of this earlier? PlugKing is a great concept to avoid the mess of adapter plugs when you have (as I do) gadgets bought all over the world with US and UK plugs, USB chargable gadgets and mobile phones with a different plugs alltogether.
I want one of these! Alas no message on availability yet.

Half a year ago I ordered the aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock, this week I finally received the package. This alarm clock is advertised as being able to sense your sleep movements and calculate the optimal wake up time from that.
Last night was the first time I tried the clock, and indeed: it works! The clock woke me with nice bird chirping, 15 minutes before the time I had entered as deadline for waking up, but indeed at exactly the time I was already almost awake. When ordering I was a little afraid that wearing the wristbands with the sensors would annoy me, but they fit will without mayor nuisance.
So hopefully no more rude awakenings from deep sleep, but a friendly wake up call at the optimum time, which also gives you some more time in the morning if you are lucky to check news.
One final cool feature: via USB connection I could this morning actually see my sleep movements graphically on my PC.
Well, this would be a nice addition to my future digital camera! Canon just showed a prototype of an automatic smile detection system, which should enable future camera's to take the photo at just the optimal moment that everybody smiles and has his or her eyes open.

07/10: PSP subway maps
Handy: PSP subway maps from all over the world. No Rotterdam and Amsterdam included yet, but it might come in handy for me while travelling abroad.
05/09: Logitech Harmony 885
Owning a AV Receiver, Media Center PC, a digital cable set top box, a TV and a DVD player is great. The downside is that they all come with their own remote control unit, so I had to use three different remotes just to watch TV (viewing using my TV, sound via my AV receiver, signal from my digital cable set top box).
Last week I have bought a solution for this remote control jungle: the Logitech Harmony 885. This remote control emulates all other remotes, has a nice color LCD display to see what you are doing and works by activity and not by device.
For example: to watch TV I know just push the button 'Watch TV' instead of getting my TV remote to power up my TV and switch to AV1, my AV Receiver remote to power the receiver up and switch to TV input and my STB remote to power up the STB and switch to the correct channel. Works like a charm and the remote is very easily programmable via USB connection and internet!
This weekend I have bought myself two new gadgets that should make life more easy: the Paradigit Enjoy 2005 Windows Media Center PC and the Roomba Discovery SE robot vacuum cleaner.
After using them both for a few days I am rather delighted with all the features. Recording a TV show on my harddisk while watching another TV show and cleaning my house, all at the same time ;-)
